IRIS

Iris was introduced to electronic music at age 13, when she first heard “Insomnia” by Faithless on Seattle’s C89.5. Since then, her love affair with the music has only intensified as she has honed a diverse set of tastes and an equally exacting repertoire of skills behind the decks. Her journey has taken her from UK Hard House, into the sounds of Trance and Progressive, finally culminating in her current focus of Deep Drum and Bass and Techno.

Iris has been collaborating on original productions with DnB veteran Quadrant. Their first tune, Anthropocene, was spotted immediately by none other than Goldie himself, and snapped up for the Metalheadz Genesis EP volume 4. Since then her productions with Quadrant as well as many other collaborations with local legend Kid Hops have been picked up by a whole host of impressive labels such as CIA, Commercial Suicide, Dispatch and Hospital Records. With an ever growing arsenal of original productions, a host of exclusive tunes from the hottest producers around the world, all held down by meticulous mixing and track selection, Iris is a force to be reckoned with.

KILJOY

Function Records, UK / New Zealand

Evan Short, aka Kiljoy, is a kiwi pioneer of the Drum n Bass movement, with 23 years of producing the toughest grooves and nastiest tunes under his belt. Having once been a founding member of Concord Dawn, he now strives to break new ground in old territory with a return to his roots and a passion to explore undiscovered treasures within it. Pushing a Techstep / Jungle edge with a modern twist, playing and making the sound he loves. Recent releases on Function Records point to Kiljoy having one foot firmly within the Jungle tradition and another seeking the future.

An absolute expert behind the decks, having previously toured the world extensively, DJing all over the United States, Europe and South Pacific including events like Big Day Out (NZ), Kings of the Rollers (Germany), Fabric Live (UK), Renegade Hardware (UK) and more as well as guest mix slots on BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2 and Ministry of Sound. His latest musical productions have been picked up by DnB royalty; Digital on his Function Records imprint, with forthcoming music, EPs and an album, artists like Digital, John B, DJ Storm, DJ Trace, DJ Craze, Bailey and more have been playing his music, receiving props from the likes of Metalheadz Goldie as well as catching the eye of some other genre shaping DnB imprints.

Cadence – Washington, DC

Washington DC’s Cadence crew returns to RVA with a tag team set of Seany Ranks & DJ Rubble as Rubble & Ranks.  Two of DC’s finest drum and bass DJ’s are responsible for many many good dance floor times. The pair together combine many decades of mixing beats and throwing events and bring the best in soulful selects. We are thrilled to have them join us in the Electric Jungle for this special Ember anniversary event.

JOANNA O. &  J. SPLIT

(Turnstyle / 2 Tuff DC) RVA

DJ Joanna O. has been mixing music for ravers since 1998. She is a USA DNB DJ who has an infectious vibe both on the dancefloor and behind the decks. Her sound can best be described as soulful liquid vibes with a hint of jungle flavors. She prefers to “speak with her hands” by mixing well. Her FM Radio residency Frequency airs weekly on Saturday nights on 97.3 FM WRIR. The show has been a staple on the airwaves in Richmond since 2005. As an event promoter, she has worked tirelessly to support the community of DJs, performers, and dancers at some of the East Coast’s most renowned dance music venues and events. As a DJ, anyone who’s ever been on her dance floors can attest that her sets have always been pure fire. Over the last two decades her hard earned mixing skills and supreme selections have earned her slots alongside many of today’s most inspiring drum & bass artists. Joanna delivers a  true voyage in sound that covers the full scope of Drum & Bass.
